End of July Photos

I got my computer back last Thursday. I had a chance to look at the photos I took on the trip south to see my mom. Lots of cloud photos in Capitola, and then birds here at home. So here they are. (The Cooper's Hawk was perched on our front gate, and the rainbow rays were from the highway photos.)

  1. Always appreciate your photos; wonder what that hawk had its eye on.

    1. isabelita-- The hawk was hunting for invasive House Sparrows. There was a huge flock of them in the yard moments before.

  2. Wow! I am glad you got your computer back! The cloud photos are, as always, beautiful and much appreciated. So much sky! Is that a band I see on the hawk's leg? I couldn't quite tell. In the last photo with the prismatic effects,is that the scar where the road was buried? And last but not least, thank you for including a photo of my cousin. :-)

    1. CCorax-- You have such a good eye. I wondered the same thing about the possible band on the hawk's leg. Not really sure. Yes, the photo with the prismatic effect is the scar where the road was buried. And, you are so welcome... glad you liked that crow photo!

    1. Patti-- That sunset was so spectacular, we loved it. We were surprised to see the hawk hanging out there for as long as it did. Oh yes, it was definitely comfy.

  7. You get some of the neatest bird photos. I see them around here (not the same ones as you see) but they never seem to come close enough to get a shot.

    1. Mark-- Sometimes the birds are very cooperative. The hawk on the gate modeled for quite some time!

    1. Steve-- The wonderful thing about the sky over Monterey Bay is that we are looking south east, so we get to see the eastern view at sunset. It is pretty grand. And that hawk really surprised us.

    1. Peter-- I'm always reminded of the line in Leonard Cohen's Suzanne, "and she shows you where to look among the garbage and the flowers..." Beauty... it's everywhere.
